About
This journey began soon after I graduated from college when I had an idea to start a novel based on my experiences as a young adult in the Chicago area. This soon became an endless series of story ideas in an endless series of notebooks I scribbled in for the next 25 years. Then, instead of just writing about writing, I decided to actually create. This took the shape of a series of short stories and articles on a range of topics that interested me. In 2017, I retired early from the telecommunications business to focus on my writing full time.
If you are interested in my topical articles, please subscribe to my monthly newsletter, and you can also follow my blog on the Home page. Access to my short stories should follow shortly.

I can best describe my work as twisted “dramedy” (touchpoints: Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror series, Kurt Vonnegut, Milan Kundera, Ottessa Moshfegh) that focuses on the nature of humanity in the midst of the indifferent cruelty of the universe. And yes, darkly funny as well.
And it’s not necessarily true that I do all my writing as the masked “El Truco”.
I guess this is where I tell you that I like books, music, travel adventures, and my wonderful family – but I’d much rather you give a read and find out for yourself.
